Exhibition news » Major Breakthrough! TBEA Secures 1.36 Billion Yuan Bid for Core Saudi Project, Breaking International Giants' Monopoly.

On November 27, 2025, local time, TBEA officially announced a major milestone: it has successfully won the bid for the EPC project of the Namria 380kV substation under Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), with a contract value of up to 1.36 billion Chinese yuan (approximately 192 million US dollars). This achievement not only marks TBEA's "groundbreaking entry" into the Saudi market but also signifies a significant step for Chinese power transmission and transformation enterprises into the core power infrastructure sector of the Middle East, highlighting its extraordinary importance!

1. Project Core: Building a Clean Energy "Hub" in Northern Saudi Arabia

This bid-winning project is not merely the construction of a substation but represents a critical component of the grid upgrade in northern Saudi Arabia. Its core content primarily consists of two major components:

1. Construction of a New Core Node:

A brand-new Namria 380/132kV smart substation will be built to serve as a central hub for regional power aggregation and transformation.

2. Upgrading Existing Facilities:

Two operational substations in the surrounding area will undergo expansion and upgrades to achieve coordinated operation with the new substation, enhancing the overall stability of the power grid.

Notably, upon completion, this substation will be dedicated to serving large-scale wind power bases in northern Saudi Arabia. It will undertake the tasks of aggregating, converting, and transmitting clean energy, effectively acting as a crucial "relay station" for Saudi Arabia's "Green Energy Corridor."

2.Precise Alignment: Closely Tied to the Energy Transition Needs of Saudi Arabia's "Vision 2030"

The success of this cooperation primarily lies in the high alignment between the project and Saudi Arabia's national strategy. As a major oil-producing nation, Saudi Arabia is accelerating its energy transition through "Vision 2030," with plans to significantly increase the proportion of renewable energy in its power mix. Currently, large-scale wind and photovoltaic power bases are being intensively developed in northern Saudi Arabia. However, insufficient grid absorption capacity has emerged as a critical bottleneck restricting the growth of clean energy. According to official Saudi data, approximately $126 billion will be invested over the next six years in upgrading power infrastructure, indicating immense market potential.

TBEA's bid-winning project precisely addresses a core challenge in Saudi Arabia's energy transition—by constructing new substations and upgrading existing ones, it will significantly enhance the regional grid's capacity to accommodate clean energy. This initiative will help Saudi Arabia reduce its reliance on traditional fossil fuels, earning high recognition from the Saudi Electricity Company.

III. Industry Breakthrough: The Leap from "Equipment Supplier" to "Full-Chain Service Provider"

Behind this successful bid lies a significant breakthrough for China's power transmission and transformation industry. Prior to this, Saudi Arabia's high-voltage transmission and transformation market had long been dominated by international engineering giants such as ABB and Siemens. Chinese companies were mostly limited to participating as "equipment suppliers" in specific segments, with limited access to the core Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracting domain.

TBEA's successful bid represents three major leaps:

1. Role Transformation: Evolving from "single equipment supply" to providing end-to-end services encompassing "design, procurement, construction, and operation and maintenance."

2. Market Expansion: Gaining initial entry into the core sector of Saudi Arabia's national main grid construction.

3. Industry Advancement: Setting a "benchmark" for other Chinese enterprises to participate in power infrastructure projects in the Middle East.

IV. Strength Through Long-term Preparation: 16.4 Billion Order and Localized Factory Lay the Foundation

This breakthrough is not accidental but the result of TBEA's long-term strategic presence in the Saudi market:

- In August 2025, TBEA secured a landmark procurement order worth 16.4 billion yuan from the Saudi Electricity Company for ultra-high-voltage equipment, gaining valuable collaborative experience.

- In September 2025, TBEA's transformer manufacturing plant in the Jizan Industrial Zone of Saudi Arabia officially commenced operations, with an annual production capacity of 25,000 units. This facility not only significantly reduces logistics costs but also shortens equipment response times by over 50%, providing solid localized support for the execution of EPC projects.

**Conclusion: A "New Starting Point" for Chinese Intelligent Manufacturing in the Middle East**

TBEA’s successful bid for the 1.36-billion-yuan Saudi project marks not only a crucial milestone in the company’s internationalization strategy but also highlights the technical strength and end-to-end service capabilities of China’s power transmission and transformation equipment sector. As the Middle East accelerates its energy transition,
